Receptionist - Amersham

This role provides comprehensive reception support as part of a frontline team, delivering a high-quality service to patients, staff, and other health professionals.
Main DutiesThe post holder will be responsible for:
- Ensuring familiarity with all reception areas and relevant procedures after a period of training.
- Dealing with enquiries in a professional and empathetic manner, via telephone, face-to-face, or written contact.
- Considering a wide range of information to ensure each patient's needs are progressed or referred on, including initial handling of complaints.
- Using advanced communication skills when dealing with patients who may have special needs or exhibit challenging behavior.
- Managing multiple diaries and inputting patient information using a networked computerized system.
- Receiving patients and preparing or advising them as necessary for their clinical care.
- Ensuring all documentation is completed, where appropriate.
- Assisting patients to use interpreting facilities when necessary.
- Obtaining personal details and other sensitive social and medical information, handling all information in accordance with relevant legislation and with high regard for confidentiality.
- Obtaining and relaying information from carers/relatives to the relevant clinician.
- Providing information and advice about Adult Mental Health services and access to NHS emergency Mental Health, including out-of-hours services.
- Receiving and transmitting information electronically using the Oxfordshire networked email system.
- Taking responsibility for the security of petty cash.
- Sorting and distributing incoming mail and processing outgoing mail.
- Providing general clerical support, including letter writing and correspondence when necessary.
