Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join our Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in assisting Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples.

Main Duties
  • Assist in the processing of clinical specimens for bacteriological culture and molecular microbiology
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in bacteriology and molecular departments
  • Check sample integrity prior to analysis and receive specimens
  • Book specimens onto the laboratory computer system and answer telephone queries
  • Undertake other tasks as required, including laboratory housekeeping duties
Working Pattern

Hours per week. Current laboratory opening hours are 08:00 to 18:00. Core hours are from 09:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday, occasional early shift 08:00 to 16:30, occasional late shift 09:30 to 18:00. Working on Saturdays 08:00 to 16:30, Sundays 08:00 to 13:00 and Bank Holiday (hours depend on which BH), on a rotational basis.
