Job Summary

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Advanced Biomedical Support Worker to join our Clinical Microbiology department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in assisting Biomedical Scientists in the investigation of patient samples.

Main Duties
  • Assist in the processing of clinical specimens for bacteriological culture and molecular microbiology
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment in bacteriology and molecular departments
  • Check sample integrity prior to analysis and receive specimens
  • Book specimens onto the laboratory computer system and answer telephone queries
  • Perform laboratory housekeeping duties and assist with other tasks as required
Working Pattern

The successful candidate will work on a rotational basis, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays. Core hours are from 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday, with occasional early shifts and late shifts.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have good interpersonal skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and the ability to work as part of a small, busy team. You will also have the ability to rotate throughout the laboratory and work on a rotational basis, including weekends and Bank Holidays.
