Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our team at a primary school in Sefton. The successful candidate will provide tailored support to a child with complex needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide 1:1 Support: Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the individual requirements of the child with complex needs.
- Implement Personalised Strategies: Follow guidance from the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to implement effective interventions.
- Foster a Positive Learning Environment: Promote the child's social, emotional, and educational development in a supportive and inclusive setting.
- Monitor Progress: Regularly record and report progress to the class teacher, SENCO, and parents/carers.
- Assist with Personal Care: Ensure the child's comfort and safety at all times, including personal care and physical needs.
- Support Inclusion: Assist the child in engaging with peers and participating in school activities, promoting social inclusion.
- Experience Working with SEN: Previous experience working with children or adults with SEN, ideally with complex needs.
- Understanding of Strategies: Knowledge of strategies for supporting children with communication, sensory, and behavioural difficulties.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and caring approach.
- Flexibility and Teamwork: Ability to work flexibly as part of a team, taking initiative and adapting to the child's changing needs.
- Commitment to Independence and Wellbeing: A commitment to promoting the child's independence and wellbeing.
- Relevant Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
- Experience with Communication Aids: Experience in using visual supports, PECS, Makaton, or similar communication aids.
- First Aid and Manual Handling Training: First Aid and/or Manual Handling training.
