Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Visitor Services Manager to join our team at a diversified rural estate in southwest Scotland. As the primary point of contact for visitors, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences across all aspects of the garden attraction.

Your key responsibilities will include managing the day-to-day operations of the Shop, Tea Room, and Plant Centre, as well as leading and motivating a small team of staff. You will also be responsible for strategic and creative management of the gift shop and tearoom, ensuring innovative ideas and current trends in catering are being delivered.

A key focus of this role will be regular monitoring of customer feedback, mystery visitor audits, and Visit Scotland assessments. You will develop suitable action plans based on the results, driving continuous improvement and excellence in visitor experience.

This position will also assist with the annual marketing programme, working closely with internal and external marketing support teams to promote the garden attraction effectively. Additionally, you will take responsibility for planning, implementing, and reviewing a wide range of events throughout the year.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in retail and visitor services sectors, ideally within another Visitor Attraction, Hospitality, or similar operation.
  • Proven ability to supervise and motivate staff.
  • A strong appreciation of marketing, promotion, and social media influence.
  • Demonstrated good health and safety awareness.
  • Strong IT skills, including office management, reporting, and stock control.
  • Excellent written communication, copywriting, and proof-reading skills.
  • A good understanding of public expectations of a garden attraction.
  • An enjoyment of rural life and working on an estate.
  • Fully qualified driver's license is required.
