About the Role

This position offers a challenging opportunity to work with our teams at Scotland's Rural College Disease Investigation Hubs.

As an Animal Health Specialist, you will provide a diagnostic and consultancy service to veterinary surgeons and farmers in the area.

You will maintain close working relationships with local veterinarians and farmers to facilitate data collection and inform trends, distribution, and nature of livestock diseases in the Dumfries area.

Main Responsibilities
  • Investigate unusual outbreaks of farm animal disease in collaboration with veterinary colleagues within SRUC and other specialist institutions.
  • Contribute to the education of undergraduates within the School of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Participate in disease eradication and control programmes directed by APHA Service.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in progressive farm animal practice and may have undertaken post graduate study to certificate, masters or diploma level in a given species or related subject.
