Job Summary

Community Occupational Therapist Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Community Occupational Therapist Specialist to join our team at Wiltshire Health and Care LLP. As a Community Occupational Therapist Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients in their own homes.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Provide highly skilled therapy care to residents within our geographical area, promoting the health of the population, reducing the effects of ill health and disability, and maximising the individuals potential for independence.
  2. Work closely with General Practices, Social Services, and other statutory and non-statutory services to meet the needs of the local population, requiring excellent communication skills.
  3. Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of high-quality safe and sustainable clinical and operational leadership under the direction of the team leaders and clinical lead.
  4. Participate in the weekend therapy rota, covering planned and urgent occupational therapy and physiotherapy assessments and treatment, as well as supporting the Home First, discharge to assess pathway.

Requirements

  1. Up-to-date community experience
  2. Case management experience
  3. Significant experience of working with adults
  4. Working with a multi-disciplinary team
  5. Leadership experience
  6. Teaching experience
  7. Knowledge of recruitment, selection, and appraisal systems
  8. Setting and monitoring standards of care
  9. Experience within a wide range of patient, client care groups

Desirable

  1. Profiling community needs and targeting identified health needs of the population
  2. Evidence of innovative and flexible approach to care and the organisation of care

Additional Criteria

  1. Access to a vehicle that can be used for business purposes and a full and valid driving licence

Qualifications

  1. Dip COT/BSc/BSc(Hons)/MSc OT
  2. Registered as an OT with the Health and Care Professionals Council
  3. Relevant postgraduate qualification
  4. Teaching and assessing in clinical practice
  5. To possess a current, valid driving licence and to be a competent driver
  6. Evidence of continuing professional development
  7. Knowledge of legislation affecting professional practice
  8. Experience of applying research-based information to practice
