About Us

The Wildlife Trusts is a leading environmental charity with a vision for nature in recovery. We are a federated movement of 46 charities, supported by a central charity, the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts. Our mission is to protect and restore wildlife and wild places, and to promote sustainable living.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our central policy team as Head of Public Affairs. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our advocacy and policy work, and for developing and implementing strategies to promote our cause.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated individual to join our team and contribute to our mission. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of advocacy and policy work, and will be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of the environmental sector and the challenges facing it.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead our advocacy and policy work, developing and implementing strategies to promote our cause.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including politicians, funders, and the media.
  3. Provide policy and advocacy support to our teams, including our conservation and education teams.
  4. Contribute to the development of our strategy and business plan.
  5. Represent The Wildlife Trusts at external events and meetings.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong track record of advocacy and policy work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A deep understanding of the environmental sector and the challenges facing it.
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
