About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our team at Southwark Council. As a key member of our senior leadership, you will play a vital role in driving strategic financial decisions and supporting our corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial accountancy services for Customer and Exchequer Services, overseeing operational budgets of approximately £40m.
  • Formulate financial policies and strategies, reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure integrity of financial information and compliance with audit requirements.
  • Lead operational budget streams, budget forecasting, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Manage financial targets, departmental business programmes, and performance reporting.
  • Advise our Senior Management Team (SMT), offering valuable finance insights to ensure the success of our corporate objectives
  • Additional responsibilities will encompass business administration and finance support across all service areas, making your role integral to our success within the Public Sector.

Your Impact

You will be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, or ICAS) with a strong presence and ability to lead. Previous experience as a Finance Business Partner, blended with extensive knowledge of Local Government or Public Sector is highly desired. You will have a passion for building and delivering a cost-conscious-aware culture, proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and decision-making skills, and a high comfort level with ambiguity.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. This figure is based on the national average salary for a Finance Business Partner in the UK, taking into account the location and industry sector.
