Job Overview

The Division of Surgery at BHRUT NHS is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Medical Staffing Coordinator. This position plays a critical role in the smooth operation of the trauma and orthopaedics service, and the ideal candidate will possess experience in medical rota coordination.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Act as the primary point of contact for medical rostering, ensuring seamless communication with junior doctors and other key stakeholders.
  2. Provide administrative support to the General Manager, Service Manager, Clinical Care Group Director, Clinical Director, and Specialty Leads in managing medical staffing.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely information related to medical staff management, including compliance with New Deal requirements, appraisals, and monitoring leave.
  4. Work closely with the Clinical Director and General Manager to develop processes supporting junior doctors on employment-related issues within BHRUT.
  5. Manage and coordinate annual and study leave, minimizing medical locum usage while ensuring adequate coverage.

Person Specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Essential: Educated to degree level standard or equivalent training and experience in medical rota coordination in an NHS setting.
  • Desirable: Previous experience working in medical staffing.

Skills/Abilities

  • Essential: Ability to manage and resolve complex staffing issues, using own initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and telephone manner.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Desirable: Experience with a flexible workforce role/setting, experience of recruitment and selection in a busy organisation.
