TB Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team as a TB Specialist Nurse. This role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to make a real difference in the lives of patients affected by tuberculosis (TB).
As a TB Specialist Nurse, you will work closely with healthcare professionals, patients, and carers to provide specialist knowledge and advice on TB prevention, care, and control. You will be responsible for assessing adults and children for TB, screening with Mantoux or IGRA, administering BCG vaccine, promoting and undertaking HIV testing, and facilitating appropriate screening.
The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge and demonstrable achievements within chest medicine, with experience of working with vulnerable groups and community nursing/primary care experience. You will also possess basic knowledge of computer literacy and evidence of being able to communicate complex information and advice on healthcare to patients/carers/colleagues.
This role offers a competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits such as flexible working arrangements and opportunities for professional development.
About the Role- Maintain a TB Database detailing TB patients' treatment, disease pattern, location, and outcome.
- Follow cases out of hospital and ensure they are taking their medication as directed and monitor for any side effects.
- Identify those patients who may be at risk of non-concordance with medication and initiate and monitor strategies that will assist the client to adhere to an appropriate regimen.
- Identify close contacts of Index cases through careful questioning and ensure that they are invited to clinic for screening for symptoms.
