Role Overview
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is seeking a highly skilled Knowledge Services Assistant to join our International Arbitration (IAG) team. As a key member of our global Knowledge & Information Services team, you will play a critical role in supporting our lawyers and business services colleagues in delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Knowledge Capture and Management
- Collaborate with Knowledge Lawyers to capture knowledge insights and know-how from client mandates.
- Develop and maintain our internal knowledge collections, including uploading know-how and tagging.
- Review and curate materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Current Awareness and Research
- Support the creation and sharing of updates, insights, and commentary on legal, regulatory, and market developments.
- Conduct research, collate materials, and track cases, legislation, or other developments.
- Draft summaries and updates, including first drafts for external/client-facing updates or knowledge materials and internal updates.
- Knowledge Collections Management
- Collate and maintain our internal knowledge collections, including uploading know-how and tagging.
- Create and maintain topics pages, reviewing and curating materials.
- Internal Knowledge Products Creation/Updating
- Support Knowledge Lawyers and lawyers in practice groups on the creation and updating of internal knowledge products, such as standard forms, templates, and practice notes.
- Information on Resources
- Maintain and update information on relevant SharePoints and other tools used to house and disseminate information about our internal and external resources.
- External Resource Expertise
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of external online databases and resources relevant to the practice area.
- Search and retrieve content efficiently and effectively, guiding others in doing so.
- Resources Training and Guidance
- Support resources training for lawyers and other business services colleagues on how to use Knowledge SharePoints, other internal knowledge tools, and external resources.
- Research and Signposting
- Help users orient their own searches, directing them to specific internal or external resources.
- Respond to queries from lawyers in practice groups or other business services colleagues, researching and locating sources and commentary from internal and external resources as needed.
- External Resource Management
- Classify and catalog new titles, updating our online library system and relevant SharePoints as required.
- Occasionally travel to London to support the management of physical libraries and hard copy resources in the London office.
- Compliance with Policies
- Be aware of copyright and compliance policies, adhering to them when disseminating materials.
- Supporting External Vendor Management
- Work with Global Procurement and other Knowledge & Information Services colleagues on contract renewals and new purchases of resources in line with our global subscriptions policy.
Requirements
- Essential
- Degree educated.
- Research skills.
- Highly IT literate, including excellent command of Microsoft Office 365 (including Excel).
- Desirable
- Degree in law.
- Relevant work or study in international arbitration or arbitration generally (training will be available but some basic knowledge is desirable).
- SharePoint skills, content publishing, database maintenance, and ability to upload content to websites (full training will be available).
- Experience of working in a law firm (e.g., as a paralegal, knowledge assistant, or in a library/research role) and/or understanding of legal products/services or professional services experience is desirable.
