Becoming a Team Leader for Signalling Maintenance is a critical role in Network Rail's team. You will be part of the daily upkeep of the rail network, directing and inspiring a team of experts in inspection, faulting, maintenance, and renewal.

About the Role

As a Team Leader, you will play a hands-on role in ensuring everything is done efficiently and to the highest standards. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain safe systems of work, ensuring Network Rail staff and contractors follow safe practices. You will also be responsible for proactively controlling and checking the quality of work and the competence of your team members.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Direct and motivate a high-performing team involved in signalling maintenance.
  2. Establish and maintain safe systems of work, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures.
  3. Proactively control and check the quality of work and the competence of team members.
  4. Compile vital reports and provide regular updates to management.
  5. Work with signalling and telecoms equipment, including signals, level crossings, and points systems.

Requirements

  • Experience in organising and controlling the safe and efficient delivery of work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both in person and in writing.
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures, and instructions.
  • A clear and inspirational leader with a strong sense of direction.
