Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced After Hours Social Work Practitioner to join our Emergency Duty Service (EDS) team at Kirklees Council. As part of this team, you will work collaboratively with other professionals to deliver high-quality social care services to children and families in need of urgent support outside regular working hours.

Main Responsibilities:
  • To receive and respond to emergency service requests, assessing priorities and allocating resources accordingly.
  • To conduct home visits and assessments, providing expert social work advice and support to service users.
  • To maintain effective relationships with local authorities, statutory agencies, and community partners.
  • To contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to child protection and family support services.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Social Work qualification and HCPC registration.
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualifying experience in social work practice, preferably in child protection and family support services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with service users and colleagues alike.
  • A valid driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £26,500 - £31,500 per annum, offering a competitive compensation package that reflects the importance of this role in supporting vulnerable children and families in the Kirklees area.
