The Role

The Systems Solutions Engineer plays a critical role in the further development of the overall IMMS system requirements' design and definition. This position is responsible for executing various system engineering functions throughout the life cycle of the project, including:

  • Supporting the Mission Solution functional description; defining the functional solution needs
  • Supporting the definition of IMMS product improvements based on customer needs and personal experience and expertise
  • Producing technical level requirements for input to the IMMS product team
  • Performing IMMS solution definition; creating the most suitable sensor, effector, functionality combination
  • Executing market analysis of full MMS solutions and MMS subsystems
  • Developing system designs, defining systems architecture, defining interfaces and specification, performing trade-studies and documenting the design by writing SSDD, ICDs, SRS
  • Performing requirement analysis, traceability and maintenance of requirements
  • Coordinating design of subsystems and integration of total system
  • Developing design concepts and generating technical proposal in response to Request for Quotation (RFQ)
  • Attending and participating in customer design reviews and acceptance events
  • May participate in system integration tests, trials, and acceptance tests at customer facilities
  • Writing acceptance test procedures
  • Managing scope of work, schedules work, estimates effort and costs, and identifies technical risks; effectively communicating status on a regular basis to management

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree in Engineering or Physics, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience designing and engineering IMMS solutions either in a Naval, government or industry role
  • Demonstrated know-how of Combat sensor and weapon market for Patrol Boat and/or OPV size vessel
  • Proven track record in the timely delivery of engineering related projects; Strong knowledge of tactical sensors or systems; Excellent knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, standards and best practices; Working experience in network design and architecture;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Familiarity with requirements and verification management tools such as DOORS; Knowledge of safety engineering and human factors engineering is an asset
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a location relevant security clearance
  • Willingness and ability to travel
