Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to join our team at Long-term Teachers Ltd. As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges in a special needs school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general classroom support and 1:1 and small group interventions as needed.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, supervision, resource gathering, and activity setup.
  • Ensure the safeguarding and wellbeing of all students, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
  • Effectively manage behaviour in line with students' EHCPs and meet their individual needs.
  • Facilitate students' access to the curriculum and help them engage in their learning.

About the School:

  • The school is an 11-16 special school with over 100 students.
  • The school focuses on supporting students with predominant needs associated with autism and ADHD.
  • The school has a close-knit team that works relentlessly to support each other and the students.
  • The school is based across two sites.
  • The school has a purpose-built nurture facility.
  • The school has an earlier school day to suit the needs of the students.
  • The school has small class sizes (maximum of 10 students).
  • The school has a high staff-to-student ratio.

About You:

  • You are passionate about supporting young people, particularly those with autism and ADHD.
  • You are proactive, resilient, and eager to actively contribute to the school community.
  • You have a good sense of humour and enjoy working collaboratively within a team.
  • You can build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism and ADHD is desirable.
  • You must be able to drive and have access to your own vehicle.
