Capital Projects Development Manager

University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is a leading healthcare provider seeking an experienced Capital Projects Development Manager to join its dynamic Capital Development and Property team. With a strong focus on delivering excellent clinical services and patient care, this role will play a vital part in supporting the trust's £70m annual capital investment plan.
About the RoleThis exciting opportunity offers a unique chance to develop and apply project management knowledge and skills to deliver capital investment projects of varying complexity across five hospital sites in Sussex. As a key member of the Capital Development team, you will work closely with stakeholders to define project scope, cost, programme, and quality requirements, ensuring successful project delivery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing delegated capital projects, working collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and external consultancies to ensure seamless project execution. With a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills, you will maintain stakeholder engagement, coordinate logistical planning, and oversee risk and change management throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement project feasibility studies, defining project scope, cost, programme, and quality requirements;
- Manage and coordinate construction project teams, reviewing contractor performance, and escalating issues as necessary;
- Oversee building and construction design works to ensure compliance with relevant statutory and healthcare guidance;
- Liaise with the appointed Cost Advisor/Quantity Surveyor and Trust finance team to monitor project expenditure against budgets;
- Supervise construction works, ensuring delivery in line with designed scope, quality, and compliance requirements;
To succeed in this role, you will require:
- A Level 6 qualification in a construction-related or project management specialism (e.g., Honours degree) or equivalent level of knowledge obtained through experience;
- Evidence of continuous professional development;
- Understanding of project management techniques, typical construction project lifecycle, technical construction, architectural, or engineering standards, and construction-related health and safety management;
