The role of Senior Additional Support Needs Service Manager is a key position within Comhairle Nan Eilean Siar, responsible for overseeing the provision of additional support needs services across the Western Isles.

Job Overview

This senior management position requires an individual with extensive experience in education and leadership to manage the delivery of high-quality services to pupils with additional support needs. The successful candidate will be expected to lead a team of professionals and work closely with local schools and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective policies and procedures.

About the Role

The job holder will have overall responsibility for managing the strategic direction of the additional support needs service, ensuring that all pupils receive the support they require to reach their full potential. This will involve:

  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory duties;
  • Providing leadership and guidance to colleagues to achieve excellent outcomes for pupils;
  • Managing budgets and resources effectively to allocate ASN funds;
  • Building strong relationships with head teachers, senior managers, and other partners to promote collaboration and effective working practices;

In addition, the job holder will be responsible for promoting and delivering effective training and professional development opportunities for staff, as well as providing advice and guidance on ASN policy and practice.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must hold a Diploma in Inclusive Practice (or equivalent) and have several years' mainstream teaching experience, including experience at a promoted teaching level. A full current UK driving licence is also essential.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £68,814 per annum, inclusive of a £2,742 Distant Islands Allowance per annum. Job share applications will be considered for this role.
