Specialist Caseworker (Emergency Department)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Specialist Caseworker to join our team in the Emergency Department of Newham Hospital. As a Specialist Caseworker, you will provide support and guidance to young people and their families, helping them to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system and access the resources they need to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer supervisory support to the team within the wider hospital-based services
  • Assess the needs of young victims of violence and develop support and risk management plans
  • Deliver a holistic support service, working solo or with colleagues as needed, to provide practical help such as social and housing support, accompanying to appointments, ETE options, benefits work, debt advice, and appearing in court
  • Collaborate with multi-agency teams to achieve positive outcomes for young people and establish links to further the aims of the project

Requirements:

  • Personal experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group, and/or experience of working with 'high risk', vulnerable children
  • Experience of providing support, advice, and advocacy
  • Substantial experience of assessing the needs of young people at risk of significant harm
  • Excellent IT, prioritisation, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written
