Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time

Our research group at the University of Cambridge is seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant/Associate to work on a new project focused on transforming engineering component design. We are starting a collaborative project with partner universities in the US, aiming to develop novel computational methods for simulating material properties and compositions. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of finite element methods, ABAQUS software expertise, user material models (UMATs), and coupling ABAQUS to external codes using the Python interface.

The role involves working closely with our research team, external partners, and collaborating on grant administration and report writing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational mechanics, excellent programming skills, and experience with ABAQUS and Python. Appointment at Research Associate level requires a PhD; those who have submitted their thesis but not yet received their award will be appointed at Research Assistant level.

We offer a competitive salary of £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a pension scheme, health insurance, and generous holiday entitlement. The University actively promotes equality, diversity, and inclusion, and we encourage applications from all sections of society.
