MWNUK is a national award-winning charity based in the UK, dedicated to improving social justice and equality for Muslim women and girls. As a Helpline Support Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing information, support, guidance, and referrals to those in need.

The successful candidate will have a keen interest in the charity sector, particularly in ethnic minority and Muslim women's empowerment. Active listening and note-taking skills are essential for this role, as well as experience of engaging with and dealing with problems faced by Muslim women/girls.

With an estimated salary of £12,000-£15,000 per annum, this part-time position offers the opportunity to gain transferable skills, develop your understanding of key issues affecting Muslim women and girls, and contribute to the advancement of social justice.

About the Role:

  1. Provide high-level support to users of the MWN Helpline, responding to telephone and electronic enquiries.
  2. Be responsible for helpline case management, including database inputting.
  3. Maintain all information in line with confidentiality and data protection policies at all times.
  4. Attend training as directed.
  5. Keep up-to-date with developments and legislation around key issues such as forced marriage, violence against women, hate crime, Islamophobia, etc.
  6. Carry out appropriate administrative duties and support to the Helpline Manager, Director, and Trustees.

Requirements:

  • Keen interest in the charity sector and ethnic minority and Muslim women's empowerment.
  • Active listening and note-taking skills.
  • Experience of engaging with and dealing with problems faced by Muslim women/girls.
  • Some knowledge of key issues affecting Muslim women and girls, including domestic violence, sexual violence, forced marriage, honour-based violence, hate crime, Islamophobia, and mental health.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision in a highly organised manner.
  • Understanding of and commitment to upholding confidentiality, data protection, and maintaining professional boundaries.
