Contract Overview:

This position is a temporary role focused on managing fleet operations for a prominent local authority in North London.

Role Summary:

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Fleet Operations Manager and workshop supervisor to ensure optimal repair services for the council's vehicle fleet and associated equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating communication with internal stakeholders to arrange Service Level Agreement meetings, ensuring service delivery and standards are effectively monitored.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all council vehicles and equipment within the database.
  • Serving as the primary contact for inquiries related to workshop services and fleet operations.
  • Coordinating scheduling for vehicle inspections, servicing, and MOT appointments, ensuring timely notifications are provided to internal customers.
  • Collaborating with external service providers to align MOTs with scheduled maintenance in the fleet workshop.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing and overseeing Service Level Agreements with both internal and external partners.
  • Assisting in conducting audits for the fleet and workshop departments.
  • Ensuring all vehicles and equipment are accurately documented in the database, with service records updated as necessary.
  • Scheduling preventative maintenance inspections, services, MOTs, and LOLER tests in compliance with DVSA regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Reporting on vehicle maintenance costs and availability effectively.
  • Coordinating with external suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts that meet specified requirements.
  • Managing external suppliers to maintain cost-effective vehicle repair solutions.
  • Supporting the Head of Fleet Operations in adhering to DVSA standards related to Operator’s Licence compliance.
  • Contributing to the business continuity plan for fleet and workshop operations.
  • Addressing customer and supplier concerns in line with corporate complaint policies, escalating issues to the Fleet Operations Manager as needed.

Essential Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience in a fleet or workshop environment.
  • Proficient in managing a fleet/workshop database and maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop quality systems that enhance support for internal and external customers.
  • Experience in a commercial vehicle setting.
  • Proven track record in managing and monitoring external suppliers.
  • Competency in utilizing IT systems, particularly in a workshop context.
