Job Description

At Marie Curie, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Support Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing end-of-life care.

The successful candidate will provide emotional support and companionship to patients in both Mount Gould and Derriford Hospital. They will work closely with the Marie Curie team to understand the unique needs of each patient and their loved ones.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing practical information and signposting to other local services such as bereavement support and advanced care plans
  • Promoting the Hospital Companion service within the hospital setting and the local community
  • Completing and returning a short report at the end of each hospital visit
  • Attending and participating in regular volunteer wellbeing sessions, team meetings, and refresher training

We are looking for someone who possesses excellent communication skills, empathy, and a non-judgmental attitude. The ideal candidate will be able to build strong relationships with patients and their families, providing reassurance and support during a difficult time.
