Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Railway Fitter/Operator to join our team at Colas Rail UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining grinding machines, ensuring the highest level of safety and quality in their work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate grinding machines safely and effectively, following established procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including chipping and blowing, to ensure the machines are in good working condition.
  • Collate data output from the machines and report any defects or issues to the Grinding or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Work safely and effectively to Colas Rail Services Operations procedures, adhering to all relevant health and safety protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining quality systems, machine safety packs, and stabling database by continually monitoring, reviewing, and making recommendations for updating as required.

Requirements:
  • Recognised formal apprenticeship in Mechanical / Electrical engineering.
  • Core competencies of Foundation Course, Machine Setup and Pack away for Operation Grinding Railgrinding maintainer for Operations /Maintenance competence matrix.
  • Driving Licence.
  • PTS.
  • Fire Training.
  • Emergency First Aid.
  • Depot /Yard Inductions.
  • Basic Laser Safety.
  • COSS.
