We are seeking a motivated Railway Operations Supervisor to join our team at London Bridge, where you will play a crucial role in delivering safe and efficient works across the station and surrounding infrastructure.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your leadership, planning, and management skills, setting you up for potential future roles such as Section Manager. As a Railway Operations Supervisor at London Bridge, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Lead Teams: Take charge of weekend works and abnormal operations, overseeing or assisting teams to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. You will run regular staff meetings to engage your team on upcoming projects, overtime requests, and training needs, helping create a collaborative and proactive work environment.
  2. Effective Planning: Work with a variety of disciplines, including S&T, Welding, and ETM, to plan and deliver work safely. You will also coordinate the use of essential machinery, such as General Purpose Cranes and Road Rail Vehicles, ensuring that all reactive and planned works are carried out with the correct staffing and competencies in place.
  3. Management Experience: Gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as creating rosters for planned works, managing staff fatigue, and assessing team competencies. This exposure will deepen your understanding of workforce management and help you identify team strengths and areas for development.

As a Railway Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for:

  1. Supervising and checking the quality of work delivered and confirming assets are compliant to standards.
  2. Adhering to company policies and procedures.
  3. Undertaking specific inspections in accordance with standards as directed.
  4. Assisting in the identification and proposal of asset renewals.
  5. Providing appropriate information to update systems, databases, and records.
  6. Undertaking a programme of staff surveillance, work quality, compliance and asset condition checks as directed.
  7. Assisting in the management, control and discipline of staff as directed.
  8. Assisting in the monitoring and review of staff competence and welfare.
  9. Knowledge of resource and work organisation/planning processes and systems.
  10. Knowledge and experience of rail testing & lubrication inspection, maintenance, renewal, and asset condition assessment techniques.
  11. Awareness of cost and waste control techniques.
  12. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  13. Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.
