About the Role

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust is seeking a Clinical Support Worker to join their team in the Community Respiratory Service. This is a permanent full-time position that will support the delivery of 4 new rolling programmes of Pulmonary Rehabilitation across South Lakes.

Main Responsibilities

As a Clinical Support Worker, you will work alongside a team of Physiotherapists, OTs, Nurses, and administrators to assist in the delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation assessments, groups, and final assessments. Your duties will include:

  • Phoning patients to support their journey through Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Supporting patients to complete health questionnaires
  • Taking basic clinical observations as part of fitness testing
  • Conducting fitness testing under the supervision of a Physiotherapist
  • Working in a compassionate, respectful, and professional manner with patients, their relatives, and carers
  • Cleaning of equipment and complying with health and safety processes
  • Writing up clinical notes using EMIS web clinical records system
  • Entering clinical data into our Audit spreadsheet
  • Moving and handling of Pulmonary Rehabilitation equipment
  • General clinical administration tasks as needed

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust provides care outside of the hospital setting, including community locations and people's own homes. Our hospital services operate from three main hospitals, and we have a range of community healthcare premises across Morecambe Bay.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and adjust communication style to meet the needs of service users
  • Ability to organise self and prioritise work
  • Display flexible attitude to work and the ability to cope with change
  • Ability to carry out patient moving and handling tasks
  • Ability to work alone in the community without direct supervision

Qualifications and Experience

You will need a Level 3 Care Certificate or equivalent experience/training, and experience working in a team, using Microsoft Office, and providing care/therapy to adults.
