About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust as a Clinical Support Worker for Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programmes. As a key member of the Community Respiratory Service team, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality pulmonary rehabilitation services to patients across South Lakes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the planning, organisation, and delivery of pulmonary rehabilitation assessments, groups, and final assessments.
  • Support patients throughout their pulmonary rehabilitation journey, including phoning patients to provide support and encouragement.
  • Conduct basic clinical observations and fitness testing as part of the pulmonary rehabilitation initial and final assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and administrators, to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families, demonstrating empathy and understanding.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records using the EMIS web clinical records system.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of new services and initiatives, contributing to the growth and improvement of the Community Respiratory Service.

Requirements
  • Level 3 Care Certificate or equivalent experience/training.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and adjust communication style to meet the needs of service users.
  • Ability to organise self and prioritise work.
  • Display flexible attitude to work and the ability to cope with change.
  • Ability to work alone in the community without direct supervision.
  • Ability to follow instructions and treatment plans from registered healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to know when to request assistance from registered healthcare professionals or other forms of support.
