About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist to join our esteemed team. This exciting opportunity is ideal for a motivated professional with expertise in clinical psychiatry practice and a passion for working with children, adolescents, and families.

The successful candidate will work closely with a consultant psychiatrist and be integral to a multidisciplinary team, providing assessments, therapeutic work, and examinations as required. They will also prescribe and monitor psychotropic medication, co-work with colleagues, and contribute to quality improvement projects.

Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage child and adolescent mental health disorders, utilizing evidence-based practices and therapies.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to develop effective treatment plans and interventions.
  • Conduct examinations and order investigations as necessary, ensuring accurate diagnoses and informed treatment decisions.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medication, adhering to best practices and guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of policies and procedures that enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • Medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Fully registered with the General Medical Council.
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent qualification.
  • Approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983 or plan to obtain within six months.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • Experience in child and adolescent mental health services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of various conditions.
  • Familiarity with outcome measurement tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of pharmacological treatments and their application in child and adolescent mental health.
  • Skill in risk assessment and management, including identification of high-risk behaviors and implementation of safety protocols.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
