Senior Children's Support Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team at a children's residential service. As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will be responsible for leading by example and supporting the management team to run the shift. You will also take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members, encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children and young people, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a residential children's home environment. You will also have a full driving licence and be able to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins).

We offer a competitive salary of £35,706 - £38,946 (sleep allowance included) and a range of benefits, including free meals whilst on shift, a £500 welcome bonus, and a company pension.

As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading by example and supporting the management team to run the shift
  • Mentoring and supporting newer staff members
  • Encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives
  • Keeping the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
  • Protecting children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Providing support for the children and young people in the home and promoting their independence and well-being
  • Maintaining a safe environment for young people
  • Ensuring the safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
  • Supporting taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives

Requirements:

  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent is ESSENTIAL
  • 2-year experience in a residential children's home environment is ESSENTIAL
  • A Full Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL as you may be required to transport the children from time to time
  • Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins)
