We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to join our team as the Head of EU Capability, Governance and PMO. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering the Government's reset of relations with the EU and to be part of a committed team that is passionate about making a difference.

About the Role

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) brings together business expertise and world-class trade negotiators under the vision of making the UK the best place to start and grow a business. The EU Hub is a friendly and high-profile unit which sits within EUST (EU, Services and Trade) Directorate in the Department for Business and Trade. The EU Hub leads the Department of Business and Trade's (DBT) work on the UK-EU relationship, ensuring that our strategic direction, governance, and policy delivery are robust, effective, and aligned with the UK's economic interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the EU Capability, Governance, and Programme Management Office (PMO) team, ensuring that all EU-related work is delivered effectively across DBT.
  • Build the capability of our colleagues to engage with key issues concerning the EU.
  • Develop and implement effective governance structures to ensure accountability and good internal communication.
  • Design and deliver proportionate programme management solutions for EU-related projects.
Person Specification

We are looking for an engaging senior leader with experience of successfully leading multiple work strands within an organisation and under dynamic conditions. A strong, inspiring leader, with the confidence and ability to collaborate with stakeholders, peers, and senior leaders across the department.

You will be a highly organised manager, efficient, and able to juggle competing priorities effectively. You will be proactive, thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment, and you will effectively support your team to do the same.

You will be able to build a comprehensive understanding of the work of the EU Hub and other teams involved in EU-related work, to enable you to identify strategic priorities, commission work, make connections and provide advice to colleagues.

Alongside your salary of £64,432, Department for Business and Trade contributes £18,665 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
