About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Income Recovery Specialist to join our team at Hampshire County Council. As an Income Recovery Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our residents receive the financial support they need to maintain a stable and secure living situation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of residents who are experiencing financial difficulties, providing guidance and support to help them get back on their feet.
  • Work closely with other teams, including housing benefit, social services, and the NHS, to ensure that residents receive the best possible support.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to recover income and reduce debt, while also providing a holistic service to residents.
  • Provide expert advice on payment methods, set up and process direct debits and standing orders, and manage universal credit cases.
  • Give evidence in court on behalf of the council, as required.
Requirements
  • GCSE (or equivalent) passes at A to C, including English and Mathematics.
  • Experience of working in an income management, housing management, or public sector environment.
  • Sound knowledge of best practice in the management of income recovery, debt counselling, and debt collection.
  • Well-developed understanding of the Welfare Reform Act and the Pre-Action Protocol.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and set targets while managing competing demands.
  • Commitment to the ideals of equality and diversity in the workplace.
