Job Summary

As the Head of Business Development at NHS Blood and Transplant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organisation's commercial growth. You will lead our business development team, developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to drive growth, expand market presence, increase revenue, and foster strategic partnerships aligned with our mission.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Lead business development activities, driving growth and commercial success.
  2. Develop and execute business development strategies, enhancing our market presence and revenue streams.
  3. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with complementary organisations, expanding our commercial offerings.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement commercial strategies.
  5. Foster strong professional relationships with key stakeholders, including governmental, academic, commercial, NHS, and grant-awarding organisations.
  6. Manage a team of Business Development Managers, promoting and explicating integrated solutions to the market.

About You

  • A good understanding of market placement, competitors, development potential, and business risks relevant to our cellular and molecular therapeutic services.
  • A proven track record of significant financial and non-financial achievement at a strategic level.
  • Experience of leading business development and/or sales functions.
  • Experience creating and directly managing effective organisational structures.
  • Experience formulating business cases.
  • Experience of working with Information Technology using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Qualifications and Training

  • Educated to graduate level.
  • Educated Master's level or equivalent qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a business-related discipline equivalent to MBA knowledge.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
