About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Amazon's Workplace Health and Safety team as a Senior Health and Safety Manager. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving improvements in safety, quality, and productivity across our Sortation Centres.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Strategies: Define and lead the implementation of site safety strategies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Lead the Health and Safety Team: Manage and supervise the health and safety team at the Sortation Centre, ensuring the delivery of objectives and maintaining high standards.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Engage with colleagues and stakeholders across all operations sites to drive collaborative health and safety projects and initiatives.
  • Provide Expert Advice: Offer authoritative advice and guidance on health and safety matters to all stakeholders within designated areas of responsibility.
  • Review and Improve Health and Safety Arrangements: Continuously review and audit health and safety management arrangements, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
  • Develop and Implement Mitigations: Plan, recommend, and implement processes to reduce health and safety risks, ensuring robust reporting regimes are in place.
  • Provide Management Information: Provide management information and statistics related to health and safety metrics, supporting business change through effective change management processes.
  • Drive Behavioural Culture Change: Implement and review company global/EU safety policies, ensuring local HSE requirements are met, and driving behavioural culture change programmes across large, complex operations.
About the Team

Amazon's Workplace Health and Safety team plays a critical role in keeping our employees mentally and physically well at work. Our team works with managers, associates, and local governments across our sites, ensuring compliance with Amazon's policies and legal regulations, and maintaining safe workplaces.

Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Education to a degree level and additional qualifications to an NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level.
  • Experience and Skills: Experience managing and leading a team, proficient knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, and advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies, qualifications or experience in sustainability, and relevant experience of communicating with stakeholders.
