About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Strategies: Define and lead the implementation of a site safety strategy, ensuring compliance with UK Health and Safety legislation and Amazon's policies.
  • Lead the Health and Safety Team: Manage and supervise the health and safety team at the Sortation Centre, ensuring delivery of objectives and maintaining high standards.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Engage with colleagues and stakeholders across all operations sites to drive collaborative health and safety projects and initiatives.
  • Provide Expert Advice: Offer authoritative guidance and advice on health and safety matters to all stakeholders within designated areas of responsibility.
  • Conduct Audits and Reviews: Review and audit health and safety management arrangements, identifying areas for improvement and implementing mitigations and processes.
  • Drive Behavioural Culture Change: Develop and implement strategies to drive behavioural culture change across a large, complex, multi-shift operation.
  • Implement Global/EU Safety Policies: Ensure local HSE requirements are met by implementing and reviewing company global/EU safety policies.
About the Team

Our WHS team plays a crucial role in keeping our people mentally and physically well at work. We work with managers, associates, and local governments across our sites to ensure compliance with Amazon's policies and legal regulations, and that our workplaces are safe.

Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: Education to a degree level and additional qualifications to an NVQ5/NEBOSH Diploma level.
  • Experience and Skills: Experience managing and leading a team, proficient knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation, and advanced proficiency in verbal and written English.
