Lead Speech & Language Therapist - Dysphagia Expert

SPEECH & LANGUAGE THERAPIST - DYSPHAGIA LEAD FULL TIME - North-East of England

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to lead our dysphagia services in the North-East of England. This is a full-time position with a minimum salary of £55,000.

Job Purpose: To serve as a leader and model in dysphagia therapy within the foundation, driving the enhancement and development of eating, drinking, and dysphagia services across all areas.

  1. Leadership in Service Development: Develop and improve dysphagia services, aiming to enhance quality and service user outcomes.
  2. Quality and Outcomes: Positively impact the quality of services provided, with a focus on improving outcomes for all service users.
  3. Reporting and Compliance: Report regularly to the executive team, including updates on audits, training compliance, incident reports, and impact data.
  4. Staff Collaboration and Support: Provide guidance and support to staff, working in collaboration with dysphagia-trained Speech and Language Therapists to ensure a high standard of care.

Main Duties:

  1. Policy Development and Implementation: Develop policies and practices with a focus on continuous improvement, encouraging shared responsibility across the team.
  2. Collaborative Quality Assurance: Work closely with service leads and quality assurance teams to establish a clear approach across all services.
  3. Incident Response and Reporting: Address concerns or incidents promptly and report to the Health and Safety Manager as required.
  4. Professional Development: Contribute to the professional growth of colleagues through coaching, mentoring, and feedback, demonstrating best practices.
  5. Resource Dissemination and Advice: Share resources and offer guidance on practice, supporting research and professional development initiatives.
  6. Competency Monitoring: Monitor skill levels and competencies across the therapy team, advising the executive team on necessary areas for further development.

Qualifications and Training:

  1. Professional Status: Qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
  2. Specialized Education: Postgraduate qualification in Dysphagia.
