Job Title: Consultant General Anaesthetist/Orthopaedic Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Consultant General Anaesthetist to join our team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic services to patients undergoing general and orthopaedic surgery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Share anaesthetic workload with consultant colleagues, including participation in general anaesthetic on-call and maternity cover on-call.
  • Provide a flexible anaesthetic service to a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedic, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, dental, and emergency surgery.
  • Participate in the Royal College of Anaesthetists Continuing Professional Development programme and contribute to the department's Quality Improvement programmes.
  • Support the development of services and provide leadership qualities to enhance the department's performance.
Requirements:
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • MBBS or Basic Medical Degree.
  • Full GMC registration and on the UK Specialist Register or within 6 months of completion of UK Anaesthetic training.
  • Experience in providing consultant cover to emergency anaesthesia and obstetric anaesthesia, including on-call.
  • Knowledge of the latest RCoA Training Curriculum and ability to train and teach anaesthetic trainees.
