Job Title: Consultant General Anaesthetist/Orthopaedic Hub

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant General Anaesthetist to join our team at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a flexible anaesthetic service to a variety of surgical specialties, including general surgery, colorectal surgery, orthopaedic, trauma, gynaecology, urology, ENT, dental, and emergency surgery.

Main Duties:
  • Share general anaesthetic workload with consultant colleagues, including participation in general anaesthetic on-call and maternity cover on-call.
  • Provide a flexible anaesthetic service to a variety of surgical specialties.
  • Participate in the Royal College of Anaesthetists Continuing Professional Development programme.
  • Be expected to actively participate in clinical governance within the department and the trust.
  • Be expected to fulfil criteria for clinical supervision and encouraged for educational supervision to participate in training and teaching of postgraduate and undergraduate trainees.
  • Participate in departmental Quality Improvement programmes under the direction of the Clinical Lead.
  • Develop and promote an interest in research in anaesthesia.
Person Specification:
  • FRCA or equivalent.
  • MBBS or Basic Medical Degree.
  • On the UK (GMC) Specialist Register or being within 6 months of completion of UK Anaesthetic training or being on or eligible for the UK (GMC) Specialist Register at the date of interview.
  • Full GMC registration.
