Our client, a renowned aerospace company, is seeking an experienced Principal Safety and Reliability Engineer to support their general systems value stream in a permanent role. As a key member of a multi-disciplinary project team, you will ensure that engineering designs adhere to safety, maintainability, and reliability standards.

  • You will optimise system and product design for safety and reliability, providing trade study data to inform design decisions.
  • In collaboration with the Systems Engineering Lead, you will develop compliant system architectures that meet industry standards.
  • You will be responsible for developing safety and system-level architecture requirements for new systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • You will provide analysis and data to support new product introduction projects, identifying areas for improvement and recommending solutions.
  • You will investigate in-service failures and work closely with the Product Integrity Committee (PIC) and Product Safety Board (PSB) to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
  • You will participate in design reviews, assessing the impact of design changes on reliability and safety.
  • You will specify reliability and safety requirements for system components, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance.
  • You will develop standard work, lessons learned, processes, and best practices for reliability and safety, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
  • You will specify special test requirements to meet reliability and safety standards, ensuring thorough testing and validation.
  • You will support risk analysis activities, identifying mitigation methods to reduce risks and improve overall system performance.
  • You will provide technical expertise and guidance on reliability and safety across projects, mentoring junior engineers and promoting knowledge sharing.
Key Requirements:
  1. You must be capable of analysing systems at both unit and detailed design levels, applying your knowledge of reliability and safety principles to inform design decisions.
  2. Knowledge of current aerospace standards, certification requirements, and Fault Tree Analysis and FMEA software is essential for this role.
