About the Welding Engineer Role:

We are seeking a skilled Welding Engineer to join our team at Collins Aerospace. As a Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance to welding processes and procedures. This will involve working closely with our Special Process Manager to ensure that our welding operations meet the highest standards of quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical responsibility for welding across the organisation
  2. Development and control of welding procedures
  3. Responsible for qualifying and maintaining welder certification
  4. Champion audit compliance in particular NADCAP and customer accreditation
  5. Participate and implement Technology Development Plans for new welding and joining technology including robotic welding
  6. Involvement in Design for Manufacture assessments and Design reviews
  7. Metallurgical analysis for weld certification and welder qualification
  8. Provide training and technical support to Welding Operators
  9. Participate and lead RRCA investigations and support implementing robust corrective actions
  10. Initiate and drive continuous improvement activities to remove waste and improve efficiency

Requirements:

  1. Significant background relating to welding and technical experience
  2. Proven background in the compliance to NADCAP accreditation
  3. Good familiarity with expectations associated with aerospace or other comprehensive quality assurance systems, including ISO9000 or AS9100
  4. Highly-motivated, flexible, responsive to change, and calm under pressure
  5. Ability to manage effectively, lead technical discussions and deliver on commitments
  6. Excellent verbal and written skills, including the ability to prepare and communicate technical information to Senior Leadership
  7. Leads by example and has the ability to work across various departmental functions within the Company
  8. Experience conducting internal Quality audits or supporting Quality audits by external customers is a plus
