Job Description

As a One to One Peer Support Volunteer with Light, you will play a vital role in providing dedicated and tailored support to families in need. This rewarding role requires a caring and empathetic individual who can build trusting relationships and offer emotional support to parents and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to families, either in-person, via email, phone, or video call
  • Assess the family's well-being and report any concerns to the Volunteer Coordinators
  • Promote mental health and wellbeing, and provide information on relevant services
  • Attend necessary training and follow Light's policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding and lone-working policies
  • Support families to attend Light peer support groups, as appropriate
Requirements
  • Excellent listening skills and empathy
  • A caring and positive attitude towards helping and supporting families
  • Interest in women's mental health around childbirth
  • Non-judgmental attitude, awareness of equal opportunities, and ability to work in accordance with equal opportunities principles
  • Willingness to attend training and mentoring meetings
