Credit Controller

About the Role
The Credit Controller will play a crucial part in limiting the company's exposure to bad debt by actively managing customer accounts. This role involves working closely with a team of Credit Controllers to meet monthly debt reduction targets and reduce debtor days. Reporting to the Credit Control Team Leader and AR Manager, the successful candidate will have full ownership of a mixed currency ledger and key accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Allocate payments in a timely manner to ensure efficient cash flow.
- Reconcile the EMEA ledger to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Allocate credits where applicable to minimize financial losses.
- Handle daily customer queries, copy invoices, and PODs in a professional manner.
- Balance credit risk with business growth by managing the release of orders.
- Ensure timely invoice uploads to support cash flow management.
- Reconcile chargebacks and forward necessary credits for approval.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure seamless communication.
- Provide weekly statements to customers to maintain transparency.
- Reduce bad debt on the ledger through proactive measures.
- Upload EDI (where applicable) to streamline financial processes.
- Ensure timely payments from customers through effective communication.
- Engage in daily contact with customers via email, portal, and telephone.
- Adhere to internal processes and controls (SOX Compliance) to maintain financial integrity.
- Chase overdue debt to minimize financial losses.
- Update systems and shared spreadsheets to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Take payments over the phone from customers in a professional manner.
Requirements
- Experience working in Credit Control, preferably in the FMCG industry.
- Experience with the Amazon Central Supplier system is an advantage.
- Excellent IT skills, including intermediate Excel.
- Experience with EMEA ledgers and EDI systems.
- Ability to work towards targets and meet deadlines.
- Open to change and new ways of working.
- Excellent customer service skills and a can-do attitude.
- Ability to listen, interpret information, and challenge the status quo.
- Highly organized and proactive approach to work.
- Able to prioritize workload and respond to multiple deadlines and tasks.
