Job Opportunity

OBM People is seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join our team at Teesworks, Middlesborough. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of operational services and improving performance to meet financial targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the efficient operation of the South Bank Quay (SBQ) Operations Control Centre (OCC) to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Provide operational management support to the Operations Manager and coordinate arrival and departure notifications for SBQ vessels with the Harbour Master.
  • Implement safe working practices in line with HSSEQ guidelines and legislation, and work with the HSSEQ department to improve safety and environmental performance.
  • Integrate the ILMS operating system and use Power BI to report KPIs and build monthly reports.
  • Coordinate and monitor operations to sustainably meet demand within safe operating limits, and regularly stock take and control inventory levels of consumables.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, cost reductions, and cost efficiency savings, and report significant breaches of policy and/or regulation to the Operations Manager or appropriate person.
  • Ensure Supervisors are fully trained to fulfil their operational activities and responsibilities, and support the Operations Manager/General Manager with the management of Teesworks P&L.
  • Financial planning and budgetary control, inventory control, and disposal cost effectiveness, and business case cost planning preparation and assist in development and execution of business plans with a primary focus on profit growth.

Requirements:

  • Degree or experience relevant to the role
  • UK Driving Licence
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Customer focused and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, both internal and external
  • Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and in writing.
  • Ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while a positive contributor to the wider team.
  • Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite and a practical understanding of data entry and reporting applications.
  • Good understanding of H&S Legislation.
