Job Description

OBM People is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of operational services and driving performance improvements to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the efficient and effective operation of the Operations Control Centre, ensuring safe and efficient operations.
  • Provide operational management support to the Operations Manager, including coordination of arrival and departure notifications for vessels.
  • Coordinate with the Harbour Master to ensure smooth vessel operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safe working practices, in line with HSSEQ guidelines and legislation.
  • Work closely with the HSSEQ department to improve safety and environmental performance.
  • Integrate the ILMS operating system and use Power BI to report key performance indicators.
  • Monitor and control inventory levels of consumables, and identify opportunities for growth and cost savings.
  • Support the Operations Manager in managing the Teesworks P&L, including financial planning and budgetary control.
  • Develop and execute business plans to drive profit growth.
  • Perform ad-hoc responsibilities as requested by the Operations Manager, including flexibility to cover night shifts.

Requirements:

  • Degree or experience relevant to the role.
  • UK Driving Licence.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and priorities.
  • Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite.
  • Good understanding of H&S Legislation.
