Operations Manager Assistant

OBM People is currently recruiting for an Assistant Operations Manager to join our team at Teesworks, Middlesborough.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading on the delivery of operational service requirements and operational service improvements to achieve performance and financial targets. Supporting performance with communication, planning, and reviews.
Key Responsibilities:- Efficiently manage the South Bank Quay (SBQ) Operations Control Centre (OCC) to support safe and efficient operations at SBQ.
- Provide in-depth operations management support to the Operations Manager.
- Coordinate arrival and departure notifications for SBQ vessels with the Harbour Master.
- Lead operations during night shifts as required, reviewing and installing metrics for measurement to improve standards of delivery.
- Improve processes and practices to support organisational goals.
- Support the Operations Manager to lead and manage individual and team performance and development.
- Implement safe working practices in line with HSSEQ guidelines and legislation.
- Work with the HSSEQ department to continuously improve safety and environmental performance and compliance.
- Integrate the ILMS operating system.
- Use Power BI to report KPIs and build monthly reports.
- Monitor the effectiveness of operations to sustainably meet demand within safe operating limits.
- Regularly stocktake and control inventory levels of consumables.
- Identify opportunities for growth, introducing new products and services, cost reductions, and cost efficiency savings.
- Report significant breaches of policy and/or regulation to the Operations Manager or appropriate person.
- Ensure Supervisors are fully trained to fulfil their operational activities and responsibilities.
- Support the Operations Manager/General Manager with the management of Teesworks P&L.
- Financial planning and budgetary control, inventory control, and disposal cost effectiveness.
- Business case cost planning preparation and assist in development and execution of business plans with a primary focus on profit growth.
- Ad-hoc responsibilities as requested by the Operations Manager for the successful operation of the facility, including flexibility to cover night shifts when required.
- Degree or experience relevant to the role.
- UK Driving Licence.
- IOSH Managing Safely.
- Customer-focused and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, both internal and external.
- Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, flexible, and can adapt to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and in writing.
- Ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating initiative and ownership, while a positive contributor to the wider team.
- Computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite and a practical understanding of data entry and reporting applications.
- Good understanding of H&S Legislation.
