SEN Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at our primary school in Hackney. This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students with autism and contribute to their educational journey.

Job Summary:

This full-time permanent role involves providing 1:1 support to students with autism, helping them to overcome challenges and reach their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced teachers and SENCO to develop and implement individualized learning plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide high-quality support to students with autism, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development
  • To assist in creating and implementing IEPs that address the specific needs of each student
  • To collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons to meet individual needs and ensure inclusion
  • To maintain accurate records of student progress and report any concerns to the SENCO

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with children with autism or other SEN
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, psychology, special education)
  • A DBS check and valid first aid certification
