Learning Support Assistant for Student with Autism
About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Hackney, London. As a key member of our staff, you will work closely with a child with autism, providing individualized support to help them engage with the curriculum, develop social skills, and thrive in a structured setting.
About the School:Our primary school is committed to providing a supportive learning environment for all students, including those with special educational needs (SEN). We believe in collaboration, inclusivity, and creativity, and we are looking for someone who shares these values.
Responsibilities:- Provide 1:1 support to a student with autism, focusing on their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Implement and adapt individual learning plans to meet the specific needs of the child.
- Support the child in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
- Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to create a structured and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor the child's progress, providing feedback to teachers and the SENCo, and adjusting strategies as needed.
- Assist the child with any personal care needs and help manage their behavior in a positive and constructive manner.
- Previous experience working with children with autism is preferred.
- Understanding of autism and the strategies required to support children with this condition.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- A clear DBS check.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
£25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience.
