Job Overview

Five Education Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team at an independent specialist school in Barking. This is a full-time, temporary position offering the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic team to provide exceptional care and educational support to students aged 11-19 who have a primary diagnosis of Autism and additional complex needs.

The school provides a supportive and nurturing environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our students often require additional support due to challenging behaviour, and we are seeking someone who can maintain a calm, positive, and structured classroom environment.

Responsibilities

This role involves working closely with teachers to enhance students' academic and personal development through small group interventions. Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment
• Providing individualised support to students with Autism and SEMH needs
• Collaborating with teaching staff to develop and implement effective educational plans

Requirements

We are looking for a qualified or experienced Teaching Assistant who possesses strong spoken and written English skills. The successful candidate will also have:
• A good understanding of Autism and SEMH needs
• Experience working with students with complex needs
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including access to training and development opportunities.
