An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team within Hereford City. You will be part of a smaller clinic team while working within the Hereford City Neighbourhood Team.

The role will be working with the existing depot/clozapine clinic team to facilitate in the administration and supervision of long acting injections. Within the Clozapine, Depot and Physical health clinics you will be responsible for ensuring that all clinical records and data collection is recorded and collected by the team. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the needs of those with a mental health diagnosis are met.

The role will include the supervision of staff as well as providing a learning opportunity for junior staff and students.

We will provide you with resources to develop and progress a long term career as well as flexibility, continual professional development, supervision as well as a wide range of wellbeing and support.

Main duties of the job

  1. To provide a comprehensive, accessible and responsive mental health services to adults within the local area.
  2. To deliver physical health interventions to patients under the service inclusive of phlebotomy.
  3. To participate in the daily management of a depot/clozapine clinic.
  4. To administer long acting injections and facilitate clozapine monitoring.
  5. To ensure a roster system is in place for the clinics.
  6. To contribute to effective multi-disciplinary working within the CMHT and build effective liaison with community, primary and other secondary and tertiary services and agencies within the area.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be clinically responsible for the delivery of a flexible, responsive local service within a Neighbourhood Mental Health team.

The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues, key partners and those within the local community to develop services to meet the mental health needs of the community. The post holder will communicate with people with a range of mental health needs, to provide and receive complex, sensitive information to people where there are barriers to understanding.

The post holder will employ a wide range of skills, building on and developing their expertise and actively seeking advice and collaboration with the Team Manager where issues which may not be readily resolved. As a registered practitioner, you are professionally and legally accountable under the NMC code of professional practice.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Registered NMC Nurse
  • Venepuncture training
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional development
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.

Desirable

  • NMP qualification
  • Teaching / training qualification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of current mental health issues
  • Knowledge of risk assessment
  • Knowledge of common medications

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Clozapine and depot management
  • Knowledge of physical health checks

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to analyse and undertake a core mental health assessment
  • Formulate, plan, implement and evaluate care
  • Ability to ensure physical health needs are screened, monitored and appropriately responded to
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, key partners and those within the local community to develop services to meet the mental health needs of the community

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a Mental Health setting
  • Assessment of people presenting with mental health problems
  • Assessment and management of clinical risk
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Managing clinic case load

Desirable

  • Use and knowledge of excel spreadsheets and work documents
  • Skilled in the provision of clinical supervision to both peers and junior members of staff
  • Experience of Clozapine management
