Therapy Assistant Practitioner Role

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Therapy Assistant Practitioner to join our Inpatient Therapy Service at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The successful candidate will have significant experience as a therapy assistant in the NHS and a strong understanding of the technical instructor role within rehab and discharge planning.
As a Therapy Assistant Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing patients and delivering complex treatments to dependent patients under the guidance of qualified staff.
You will work independently making treatment and discharge decisions autonomously for a select group of patients and will be part of a multidisciplinary team working in our ICU and Respiratory and Surgical wards.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a mature and tactful approach, and will be able to work effectively within a challenging caseload.
Regular supervision will be provided, and we have a training programme in place to support your personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients and deliver complex treatments to dependent patients under the guidance of qualified staff
- Work independently making treatment and discharge decisions autonomously for a select group of patients
- Participate in the weekend and Bank Holiday seven-day working rotas
Requirements
- Significant experience as a therapy or nursing assistant in the NHS
- NHS experience in an Acute environment
- Experience of managing and prioritising own caseload
