About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Assistant to join our team in Preston. As a Special Needs Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting children with special educational needs in primary education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation of Resources: Prepare tailored resources and activities for 1:1 support to meet the individual needs of each child.
  • Collaboration with Teachers: Work closely with classroom teachers and SENCOs to organize activities and ensure effective support.
  • Liaison with Professionals: Liaise with other professionals, including teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff, to ensure comprehensive support for children.
  • Supporting Children: Work with children on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, and as part of a class, to monitor and track their development and support their personal growth and confidence.
Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience of working with young people, particularly those with special educational needs.
  • Behaviour Management: Ability to manage challenging behaviors and engage with children in a positive and supportive manner.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with children, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Flexibility: Ability to be creative, proactive, and flexible in your supporting style to meet the diverse needs of children.
  • SEN Knowledge: Experience or knowledge of special educational needs, including learning difficulties.
  • Qualifications: CACHE Level 1 or 2 or NVQ Level 2 qualification.
